St. George Wreck

St. George wreck in Bayahibe is a 73 m (233 ft) long cargo ship intentionally sunk on June 12, 1999, to create an artificial reef and a popular diving site. Originally built in 1962 to transport grain, it was renamed St. George after the hurricane that struck the Caribbean in 1998. The structure is now covered in corals and sponges and is home to a wealth of marine life, including barracudas, moray eels, and reef fish. Its depth of between 30 and 40 m (100 to 130 ft) makes it suitable for advanced diver.

St. George is one of the favorite dive sites in the Bayahibe area. The dives are always exciting. You never know what you'll find on each dive. Some of our clients make two or three dives during their diving vacation in Bayahibe to explore the entire wreck and see every little detail.
